MELKSHAM-based video production company, The Creative Video Company, a sister company of Melksham News, had its work broadcast to an audience of millions last month when the BBC used some of their footage in its televised Sports Personality of the Year awards ceremony.
The company’s footage of the Special Olympics GB competition, which took place in Bath last August, was used during John Newman’s performance of ‘Love me again’ at the start of the show as well as later on during a round-up of the sporting year.
“We were commissioned to produce video coverage of the Special Olympics GB by Team Bath, which hosted the national event,” said James Stapleton of The Creative Video Company. “We were pleased with the success of the video anyway as it was viewed thousands of times on YouTube, so having the footage used by the BBC on such a widely-viewed show was a real bonus.
“It was great exposure – not just for us, but also for Team Bath and the Special Olympics. We’ve had our videos used several times by the BBC, but never before during a primetime show like Sports Personality of the Year.”
More than eight million viewers tuned in to watch the ceremony, which saw Andy Murray pick up this year’s main BBC Sports Personality award.
