THE August meeting of Melksham WI was open to family and friends to come and hear invited speaker Robert Robinson, who gave a very interesting talk on the work of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Gill Arbery reported, “It was inspiring to learn how the liaison between the Air Ambulance and Wiltshire Police has saved lives across the county and beyond. “Members have also enjoyed an evening meal out with partners and friends, an outing to the seaside and a trip to Windsor in conjunction with Corsham WI. We were also busy at the Melksham Food Fayre on Sunday 15th September where Melksham WI had a stall with traditional WI goodies, cakes, jams and chutneys etc.
“We try and support local entertainment venues and are looking forward to theatre dates at the Bath Theatre Royal, a great choice of musical events at the Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon, and music and drama at The Pound Arts Centre in Corsham and the Merlin Theatre and Memorial Theatre in Frome. “The Wiltshire County Federation also organise events, and members are signing up to learn about Medi Pets, waste disposal and Bollywood style dancing, along with the more familiar WI craft events. At the meeting on Wednesday 18th September, Mrs Quinney gave a talk on ‘Bats – the only flying mammal in the world’.
“Melksham WI meet on the third Wednesday each month at the The Riverside Club, Bath Road, by the Town Bridge, at 7.30pm. Visitors are most welcome so if you want to find out more about us do come along. Your first visit is free.”
