A MELKSHAM woman has raised £250 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance after the good work the team on board did in trying to save her father’s life.
Sarah Jarvis who works for the Melksham News lost just under two stone at Slimming World Bowerhill group run by Kim Heath, as part of a sponsored slim which saw her raise hundreds of pounds for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
She chose to donate to them after they tried their best to save her father Don Harding in May 2011 after he suffered a heart attack whilst working on a roof at Little Chalfield
Sarah presented the cheque to the paramedic, Luke MacCallum who worked on her dad the night he died and to PC Adrian Wells who was also on duty on the air ambulance the night of the incident.
Sarah said, “The Wiltshire Air Ambulance is such a fantastic cause and I really appreciate the effort they put in the night they tried to save my dad’s life. I thought they were fantastic that night and I will never forget the work Luke, the paramedic, and his team did that night.
“My dad was full of life and nobody could stop him getting on and being active. He was 80 years old when he died and he was up on the roof doing some work which says a lot about his character.
“It has been great to come and meet Luke personally and thank him for what he did that night and to do what I can to raise some money for the service.”
Paramedic Luke MacCallum said, “I think it’s wonderful to get the opportunity to meet the family and share the experiences of that night and explain what we tried to do from our point of view.
“One of the great things about the whole incident is how Sarah has turned it into a positive by losing so much weight and using that positive change to also help raise money. We are very grateful as we rely on donations such as this to continue providing the service we do.”
