‘MELKSHAM rocks’ was the message from local retailers after carnival winner Antigua Joe got shoppers dancing in the street.
Jacs Brady who owns Candy Jax sweet shop contacted the Melksham News after huge crowds gathered in the courtyard between her shop and Waitrose to sing and dance as Antigua Joe performed a selection of calypso, soca, ska and reggae songs,
Jacs said, “I’ve never seen such crowds gather here like this. After recent criticism from some people in the community about there being nothing to do in Melksham, I think this proves this isn’t the case.
“People from all walks of life are here having a great time together and there is a real sense of togetherness and party.
“Melksham rocks and this proves it! It’s like being on holiday with the party atmosphere going on.”
