ENTHUSIASM is flourishing in the South West In Bloom Committee as Melksham prepares for its entry into the annual competition in July.
Melksham will be competing alongside towns across the South West for gold, silver or bronze award and with the town’s impressive floral displays and community involvement hopes are high for a significant award.
The committee says, “We are looking forward to welcoming the judges to Melksham in July when the town will have a chance to showcase the work done by groups and individuals every year that make Melksham look fantastic. Melksham Gardeners Society, Historical Association, Conigre Mead Nature Reserve and several litter picking groups all work hard to promote and enhance Melksham as a beautiful and prosperous place to live, work and visit, as well as the many businesses and individuals who invest time, energy and creativity in their beautiful floral displays and gardens.”
An entry into South West In Bloom provides an opportunity to celebrate everyone’s work and the committee is busy gathering stories and examples to present on the day. Anyone who would like to get involved or who knows of a project or initiative to include, should contact Miriam at the Town Hall on 01225 704187 or email miriam.zaccarelli@melk shamtown.co.uk.
A community gardening day will be held on Saturday 22nd June at which local people are invited to roll up their sleeves to get involved in the preparations. Everyone is welcome to meet at the Town Hall this Saturday between 10.00am and 1.00pm, with gloves, wellies and plenty of enthusiasm. Refreshments will be provided.
