MELKSHAM’S ‘Charity Morphman’, Robbie Newton, is warming up yet again to tackle more running challenges.
Wearing his now iconic green morphman suit, Robbie will take part in not one, but two marathon events – the Brighton Marathon in September and the London Marathon in October.
And again, Robbie will be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support – the national charity that offers emotional, financial and practical support to people living with cancer.
Robbie has set himself a fundraising target of £2,000 and has so far raised over £800.
The two marathons are the next in a series of fundraising events organised by Robbie over the past few years for the charity. Last year he raised over £12,000 for the charity, keeping the community entertained during lockdown with his efforts, which included a back garden ‘RideLondon’ challenge, and a 26.2 mile back garden marathon.
“As you may or may not know, I love doing my bit for charity!” said Robbie. “For 2021, I thought ‘Charity Morphman needed an even bigger challenge, so I decided to do both the Brighton Marathon in September and London Marathon in October alongside other events including Tough Mudder!
“Training has been ongoing and although I had coronavirus in February, nothing is going to stop me doing whatever it takes for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“Right now, Macmillan can only be there for one in four people at diagnosis. Macmillan are there to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support. Everyone should have the support they need.”
