GoodNews Church, which meets at Melksham Town Hall every Sunday morning, will be having its service in the evening on Sunday 10th March at 6.30pm.
The guest speaker will be Matt Holcomb from the Door Fellowship in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
John Firth reports, “It will be Matt’s first visit to our town, but Melksham’s connections with Pennsylvania stretch back over 350 years, as documented by a plaque in St Michael’s Church. Some of Pennsylvania’s first settlers were from Melksham.
Matt and Rachel Holcomb recently became senior pastors at the Door Fellowship in Williamsport, where they had been youth pastors for over 20 years. Matt said, “I am excited to come to our area as the roots of both sides of his family are here in the South West of England.”
“Bringing the Pennsylvanian connection more up to date, John and Sharon Firth were ordained at the Door Fellowship. They had lived in the USA for 13 years and moved to Melksham in 1998 to establish the GoodNews Church here.
“Matt and Rachel will be coming to Melksham directly from the Empower19 conference hosted by family.church in Portsmouth.
“Everyone is welcome to meet Matt and Rachel on Sunday the 10th of March – the meeting begins with refreshments at 6.00pm in Melksham Town Hall. There will be no morning meeting because several people from GoodNews will be at the Empower19 conference over the weekend.”
