The Kennet & Avon Brewery is due to open a new microbrewery and craft beer shop in Melksham.
The business that has been going for two and half years has moved into premises behind Victoria Motors on Old Broughton Road which is visible from the A350 opposite Asda.
Managing director Malcolm Shipp from Seend said, “We’ve been searching for the right premises for a long time and really wanted somewhere visible to connect with the public and with easy access.
“We have an awful lot of work to do and a layout to design but subject to planning permission we would hope to have the brewery operational by spring 2016, but hopefully the craft beer shop will be open by the end of this year.”
To celebrate their arrival in Melksham and to meet the locals they are holding an open weekend and beer festival on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th September, where you can enjoy their range of beers plus guest ales and ciders. There will be live acoustic music, a barbecue and pies too. The team will be there to share their plans, along with an investment crowdfunding opportunity for those that fancy a stake in their local beer company.
Tickets are available at Autoline Service Station on Spa Road at £5 each which includes your first pint and a branded glass. For more information call 01225 707111
The Kennet and Avon Brewery also recently collected a bronze award at the International Beer Challenge for their Savernake ‘Stout Without’ gluten-free and vegan-friendly beer.
