MELKSHAM Music and Drama (MMAD) will be holding its latest comedy, ‘Act Your Age’ this and next weekend.
‘Act Your Age’ is a musical comedy farce taking place in a large house in a remote village. The house is a clinic that offers sanctuary, rest, relaxation and therapy to celebrities, but it has seen better days; it has debts, just two patients, and all the staff have walked out except for one.
A bungling workman has been digging up the road and left a nearby old people’s home without electricity or water. The old folk are left at the celebrity sanctuary and begin pretending to be celebrities, and when real patients – a middle-aged nymphomaniac and a D list celebrity – begin checking in, chaos ensues!
The show will be held at 7pm (7.30pm start) on Friday 9th, Saturday 10th, Friday 16th and Saturday 17th September, at the Rachel Fowler Centre in Melksham Market Place.
Tickets cost £8 (children £6) and are available from the Tourist Information Centre or online at www.doxatickets.co.uk/start.php?id=959
As the club move towards half a century of songs, dances, comedy sketches and drama, one member is writing a book about the history of the group. MMAD wants to hear from as many past members of The Avon Players, Melksham Comedy Club and Melksham Music and Drama (MMAD) as possible.
Whether you were a performer, director, backstage crew or associated with the group in anyway, they would be interested in your memories to help capture and promote their story. To contact MMAD email contact@mmad.org.uk
