MELKSHAM Assembly Hall has three films fresh from the cinema lined-up for the coming weeks.
This Friday, 12th April, there will be a screening of 2018’s biographical comedy-drama film, Stan & Ollie. The film’s synopsis says, “Laurel and Hardy, the world’s greatest comedy team, face an uncertain future as their golden era of Hollywood films remain long behind them.
“Diminished by age, the duo set out to reconnect with their adoring fans by touring variety halls in Britain in 1953. The shows become an instant hit, but Stan and Ollie can’t quite shake the past as long-buried tension and Hardy’s failing health start to threaten their precious partnership.” The show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £6.
On Friday 19th April, the Assembly Hall will show Oscar-winning Green Book. The film’s synopsis says, “Dr Don Shirley is a world-class African-American pianist, who is about to embark on a concert tour in the Deep South in 1962. In need of a driver and protection, Shirley recruits Tony Lip, a tough-talking bouncer from an Italian-American neighbourhood in the Bronx. Despite their differences, the two men soon develop an unexpected bond, while confronting racism and danger in an era of segregation.”
The show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £6.
On Saturday 20th April, children young and old are invited to watch the Dreamworks animated film, How to Train you Dragon: The Hidden World. The film’s synopsis says, “From DreamWorks Animation comes a surprising tale about growing up, finding the courage to face the unknown…and how nothing can ever train you to let go. What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic adventure spanning their lives.
