The villagers of Atworth came out in force to show off their baking, pickling, artistic, and gardening skills in the Atworth on Show event held on Sunday 7th September.
A new team of villagers had worked for a number of months, on what was formerly the Autumn Show, developing the new-look event which witnessed a tremendous turnout from the community.
The quality of the produce was excellent with particularly tasty cakes and jams that quickly sold in the auction at the end of the day. The children’s section was especially well represented with cakes, artwork, and flowers.
Although there was serious competition for many prizes, light hearted categories included ‘Heaviest Villager’ with a competition to guess the weight of the willing victims.
Andrew Malcolm, one of the organisers said, “I was really impressed with the community spirit, and the attendance on the day. It made for a really great event, with the sunshine to match.”
Lisa Walkden, another organiser who has recently moved to the village, commented, “After living in the village for such a short time this event made me feel part of the community and we are really grateful for all the support from the village. Everyone is excited for next year’s show, which we hope will be even bigger and better.”
The Atworth on Show team want to thank all the local businesses for their kind support for the raffle and auction at the end of event which really made the difference to the day.
