ABC Day Nursery in Melksham recently received a visit from Michelle Donelan MP.
The nursery welcomed Michelle Donelan and congratulated her on her recent electoral success.
In light of the governments recent proposal to give parents 30 hours of free child care for three and four year-olds, owner of ABC, Alexis Pavlou wanted to understand how government proposes make this policy sustainable for care providers, parents and for government.
She also asked Michelle how the supply of places can react positively to the inevitable increase in demand that the extra free hours will cause with rising wages and large cuts in local council funding from central government.
Michelle Donelan agreed with Alexis that neither providers, nor government want parents to face disappointment in the availability and the quality of local nursery care, when these hours are offered in September 2017.
Alexis said, “At ABC space is already at a premium and we are determined that parents of children of all ages have good quality care for their children available at affordable prices.
“We look forward to working with Michelle Donelan to help ensure that we can continue to maintain this service, which not only benefits children in their development and preparation for school but also parents’ desire to work.”
