The former Lloyds Bank building in Melksham will now go to auction in September, after the original auction date was postponed.
The Grade II listed High Street building was due to be auctioned on 22nd July but will now be offered on 16th September, with registration closing on 11th September.
The property, which has been vacant since the closure of Melksham’s last bank in February 2022, has a guide price of £500,000.
In 2023, Wiltshire Council granted planning permission to convert the building into seven self-contained flats, comprising a mix of one and two-bedroom units.
The freehold town centre property provides around 5,913 sq ft of space over two floors with a basement and includes five off-street parking spaces.
The agent says there is also potential for further development of the attic space, use of the basement for storage or conversion into three large townhouses.
Following the closure of the bank, there had been calls for the building to become a banking hub offering services from multiple banks. Former MP Michelle Donelan supported the campaign, but Melksham was not eligible as building society services remained available in the town.
