Mellsham Cons Club has undergone a major refurbishment and is offering a warm welcome to the whole community.
Formerly known as Melksham Conservative Club, the ‘Cons Club’ has been given a fresh new look that includes a new bar, stage, air conditioning and lighting. The result is a modern, comfortable venue offering entertainment and activities seven days a week.
Committee member Dave Jenkins said, “We want people to know this isn’t a political club -it’s a community club, open to everyone. Whether you’re here for live music, a quiet pint, a game of pool/snooker or to watch the football, there’s something for everyone. We’re open seven days a week and non-members are very welcome.
“With a new look, a lively events calendar, and a warm welcome for all, the club is aiming to become a true hub for the local community.”

Live music
The new stage is already proving popular with local performers. “It’s perfect for bands and groups,” said entertainment organiser Keith Taylor “We’ve got an exciting line-up planned for the year ahead, including tribute acts and top local artists. We really want to make live music a big feature of the club again.”
As well as music nights, the club offers a wide range of entertainment and social activities. There’s bingo three nights a week, regular quiz and poker nights and charity race nights that help raise funds for local sports clubs and good causes.
Sports and TV
Pool, darts, skittles and snooker are all available, and sports fans are spoiled for choice with four large-screen TVs – often showing different matches at once, whether it’s football, rugby or other top sporting events.
“We’ve got an exciting line-up of live music planned this year including top local singers and tribute bands including Elvis and we are looking at more modern tribute singers like Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift to follow on from our popular Absolute Oasis tribute band from last year” added Keith. “Keep an eye on Melksham News or our social media for what’s coming up!
Open mic night
“We are also launching a regular free open mic night with the first taking place this Saturday, 31st January; everyone’s welcome to come along and take the stage with singing, comedy or poetry – or simply to enjoy an evening of local talent.”
The club also has a spacious function room available to hire for parties and events with all functions welcome including weddings, parties and wakes with in-house catering available.
Social hub
Something is scheduled every day of the week, and people are welcome to drop in for a drink or to watch sport without being members. Membership is available, offering a range of benefits including discounted drinks of up to 30p a pint.
“It’s all about bringing people together,” added Dave. “The club is similar to the old Melksham House – we want to be that social hub again for the town, but with even more going on.”
For updates on upcoming events or details about membership, visit the club’s Facebook page or pop in for a chat.
The club is based in Bank Street on the high pavement; for more details call 01225 702886 or 07702 826046.
