Wiltshire Savings and Loans Credit Union will be making a change to its Saturday opening times next month.
From Saturday 7th April, the collection point at Melksham Library opening time will change from to 11am-12.15pm. The service is also available on Fridays at the regular time of 11am-1pm.
Previously known as West Wilts Credit Union, last year the local credit union covering the Melksham area, combined with the other credit unions in Wiltshire to form Wiltshire Savings and Loans Credit Union.
A Credit Union is a community-based co-operative operated on ethical principles, run by its members for the benefit of its membership, offering financial services regulated by the financial authorities.
Volunteer Sam Selman said, “By pooling their resources, the credit unions aim to improve the services they provide. Wiltshire Savings and Loans Credit Union now offers an online service to compete with pay day loan providers and attract a digital generation.
“At the same time, the traditional face-to-face service is available for the many who prefer the personal contact. The collection point is central to this process. The membership has grown to about 2,000, the members’ assets held total to about £1million and the central office has moved to St Michael’s Community Centre, St Michaels Road, Salisbury.
“We are always in need of volunteer collectors to fill the vacancies in our rotas. Please call in to the collection point for more information or contact our office telephone 01722 421881.
