A NEW regular drop-in information service has been launched in Melksham, offering support and advice about sight loss.
The ‘Sight Loss Advice Drop-in Session’ at Melksham Library is hosted by Wiltshire Sight’s community sight loss adviser for the area, Alan Whetherly, on the second Tuesday of every month.
The session gives people living with sight loss, and the people around them, an opportunity to meet Alan; receive information and advice; discover new resources to help with daily living; and meet others with sight loss.
The new service comes after the success of last month’s ‘Sight Loss Information Day’ at the Assembly Hall.
Speaking to Melksham News at the event, Alan said, “We are taking the message of sight loss matters into the community. The aim of this event and the regular drop-in service at the library is to raise awareness about why people should be concerned about sight loss – and this is also for friends, relatives and professionals, as sight loss impacts everybody, not just the person living with it.
“For anyone living with a sight loss condition, I want them to know that we are here to help – whether it be information about gadgets, or the Melksham Talking Newspapers – we can help, you are not alone.”
The new ‘Sight Loss Advice Drop-in Session’ is held on the second Tuesday of every month at Melksham Library from 1pm to 3pm. The next session will be held on Tuesday 14th May.
