A MELKSHAM charity shop has launched its first big fundraising event of the new year.
Cats Action Trust North & West Wiltshire is offering a clearance sale at its Bath Road shop, near the town bridge. The aim is to make space for the high volume of Christmas donations of pre-loved items and unwanted gifts. Profits support the rescue and rehoming of abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens.
Special offers include half-price clothing, shoes, handbags and toys, and ‘buy-two, get-one-free’ on books and DVDs.
There is also a wide range of china, glass and bric-a-brac available for just 50p to £2.
Trust chairperson Tracy Waldron said, “We would like to thank everyone who responded to our recent appeal in the Melksham News to have a ‘Christmas clear-out’.
“We received lots of lovely items which we’ll save for a series of sales throughout the year.
“In the meantime we need to create some extra space for all of the new donations, which is why we’re offering big discounts across the shop.
“Customers are sure to find a bargain, and they’ll be supporting our ongoing campaign to find new forever homes for local cats and kittens.”
Donated books include popular authors Chris Ryan, Andy McNab, Stephen King, Ruth Rendell and Danielle Steel, together with cookery books from Gordon Ramsay and Tom Kerridge, and titles from Alan Titchmarsh, Ben Fogle and Gary Barlow.
The Trust shop is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am-3.30pm.
