RATHER than a regular meeting in August we thought a trip out would be in keeping with the holiday season.
We hired the Melksham Community Bus and 12 members with four guests set off for Hungerford to have a ride on the canal and a mooch about the town. It was very fortunate that plenty of time was factored into our journey as the roadworks we met on the way had long queues.
We arrived at the Rose of Hungerford with 20 minutes to spare, phew! Lovely trip on the canal with information provided by the guide, Charlie, navigating one lock then the return. Drinks were available too. We split into sociable groups to explore the town for a few hours before returning to the bus for our homeward journey. Peter, our bus driver found an alternative route back to Melksham to avoid the roadworks. A good day.
The next meeting will be on 13th October, Kadie Chatman will be telling us about riding for the disabled. If you would like further information, please contact Tricia on 01225 704805.
