The national political situation continues to be rather interesting, to say the least, as we go through the process of selecting a new Prime Minister.
I want to know who you would prefer as your next Prime Minister. Please do share your thoughts with me by filling in my survey http://michelledonelan.co.uk/conservative-leadership-contest.
On Friday 13th June I held a Money Management event at Melksham Town Hall. The free event was open to all local people and I plan to hold another in the evening for those who could not make it. I organised the event because I have seen far too many constituents who do not know where to turn to for support, advice and information when it comes to managing debt or their money. There is far too much stigma and taboo about money-related matters and we need to do more to tackle this.
Local people came with their queries about debt, pensions, benefits, tax and simply to get better with day-to-day money management. They met with tax specialists, pension specialists, debt advisors and experts in day-to-day money management. Numerous organisations included Wiltshire Citizens Advice, Wiltshire Council Revenues & Benefits Team, Jobcentre, The Pensions Advisory Service, The Money Charity, Turn2Us, Hope Debt Advice, Melksham Debt Advice Service, Wiltshire and Swindon Credit Union, The Financial Ombudsman, Bradford on Avon Hub and many others.
I am passionate about helping people out of debt and ensuring that they have the support that they need. Often people just do not know where to turn to get out of the vicious cycle of debt or how not to get stuck in it. Pensions, taxes and other money matters can also throw up questions which the event aimed to help provide some answers for and signpost to other organisations for more assistance. If you could not make it but want some help email Michelle.donelan. mp@parliament.uk or call 01249 704465.
