LOCAL man, Bryan Clover, will next month attempt to walk 84 miles non-stop in 48 hours for charity.
And he has set himself a fundraising target of £10,000, which will be donated to The Rainy Day Trust – the UK’s only charity supporting the home improvement workforce and their families in times of need.
“As many of you know, since [my daughter] Evie died, hiking has become a place of refuge for me, allowing me to calm the noises and pain in my head and get some peace,” said Bryan. “It has also helped to keep me fit during the various lockdowns and stop me from becoming the new ‘Michelin Man’.
“So, this September, I’m taking the hiking to a new extreme. On 17th September I will begin a hike from west of Bath to Reading, aiming to hike 84 miles non-stop in 48 hours: #84in48.
“No sleep, just walking.
“Two years ago, I managed 53.4 miles non-stop in 24 hours and I was exhausted, so decided it was time to up the ante once again and raise some serious money for The Rainy Day Trust; I have set a fundraising goal of £10,000.
“But I want to smash that completely as the charity is working flat out to help people struggling with enormous mental health issues at present. By my reckoning I’ll take 168,000 steps and burn about 10-12,000 calories.”
