A garage in Melksham recently presented a cheque for £1,028 to Wiltshire Air Ambulance, after raising funds through a raffle for their customers and friends.
Nortree Motors on Beanacre Road raised the money by holding a raffle during July and August. The winner, Phil Hayward, will receive a free full service for his car.
Raffle organiser Mel Groom said, “We are very pleased with how much we raised for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance during the months of July and August.
“We thought it would be a nice idea to do some fundraising, and I know that the air ambulance is a good cause that’s close to a lot of people’s hearts. We had such a fantastic response from our customers, staff, friends and family and I’m really chuffed with how much we raised – it was much more than our target.
“Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, and especially to Melksham Motor Spares, Melksham Tyre Supplies and PDH Roofing, who were particularly generous.”
Company director, Edward Phillips said, “We are planning to raise more money for local charities in the near future.”
Raffle winner Phil Hayward said, “It’s great to have won, but I was just happy to support a great cause in the air ambulance.
“I’ve been involved with fundraising for the charity before, and as soon as Nortree mentioned the raffle I wanted to get involved. Thanks to the garage for putting it together.”
The cheque was accepted last week by Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s fundraising co-ordinator Kenresa Stratford.
Kenresa said, “Nortree have done a brilliant job raising so much from the raffle, and we’re very grateful for their donation.”
Wiltshire Air Ambulance provides life-saving emergency helicopter transport across the county and is funded entirely by donations and must raise £2.5million per year to keep going. For details visit www.wiltshireairambulance.co.uk
