A MELKSHAM woman who works at Queensway Chapel Nursery has shaved off her hair to raise money for the oncology unit at Royal United Hospital, Bath.
Caroline Scott had her head shaved at work, in front of the watching children and staff. The hair that was shaved off is to be donated to the Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for children with cancer.
The charity head shave has raised over £300 for the hospital unit so far. Caroline said, “I decided to shave my head to raise awareness for cancer patients that lose their hair through treatment, and for those people who fight so hard to beat the disease. Some do get better but sadly many don’t.
“After losing my uncle in November 2011 after battling his fight with cancer, I decided I wanted to do something to raise money for the RUH oncology unit where he received his treatment.
“My uncle wasn’t the first loss our family has had to cancer – at the age of 15 years my mum lost dad to cancer, six months later she lost her sister to breast cancer, and in 1989 she lost her remaining sister yet again to breast cancer. With the recent loss of her brother to bowel and colon cancer in 2011, my mum has no immediate family left.
