Melksham Guides were lucky to receive a visit from local Olympian, Laura Deas before the holidays.
They say, “She has inspired us to complete our sports badge by taking part in lots of different sports such as rock climbing, self defence, hoop fit, 10 pin bowling, fencing, human hungry hippos, table tennis, badminton, snorkelling and swimming. We are also visiting Boomerang, Bounce House and Kingfisher Court.
“We would like to thank Springfield Centre, Leadership Martial Arts, Heidi Collison, Christie Miller, Bath Sword Club, Boomerang, Bounce House, Kingfisher Court and Calne Scuba Club for helping us to arrange all these activities.
“The Guides are also working towards their traditions of Guiding badge this term, following the work we have completed so far with Melksham Remembers. We are bringing back some of the activities Guides used to do years ago, such as marching in to a horseshoe (we are exploring other ways of getting there too), hoisting the flag, pioneering by making pet ropes, and campfires including plenty of S’mores.
