MELKSHAM Bloomers are aiming for their fourth gold win in a row at the South West in Bloom awards – with an Olympic-themed display in the Market Place.
The group of volunteers have already begun work sprucing up the town and planting flowers in preparation for judging day on Wednesday 14th July – but they need your help!
“There is a fair amount to do, but lots of people make light work,” said volunteer Terri Welch.
“The work that needs doing is more sprucing up around the town, painting bollards and bins, clearing the gutters of soil and weeds growing in the soil.
“The vital day is Sunday 4th July and possibly the following Sunday, 11th as well – days before the judges arrive.”
This year’s Olympic-themed display was planned for last year’s South West in Bloom competition to coincide with the Tokyo Olympics – but both were postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
But nothing will stand in the way of this year’s ‘blooming good’ display.
“Even if the Olympics weren’t to go ahead in Tokyo this year, the Olympics will still come to Melksham!” promised Terri.
