MELKSHAM Comic-Con is gearing up for this year’s event, with organisers claiming it will be ‘bigger and better’ than ever.
The event which takes place on Saturday 31st August is the brainchild of Komix comic book shop owner Hayley Spencer and brings together a range of exhibitors, leading comic book artists and illustrators.
The venue, Melksham Assembly Hall, will be transformed into a hub of pop culture-fuelled exhibitors with some of the comic book industry’s most talented writers and illustrators, comic book workshops, question and answer sessions, free balloon modelling, face painting, professional photographs against the backdrop of Gotham city, cosplay and much more, between 10.00am-5.00pm.
“This year is going to be much bigger and better,” said Hayley. “Judging by ticket sales we are expecting to double the number of people who attended last year and expect around 1,200 people to attend. We are already at almost 500 pre-sold tickets, so it’s fantastic how the event has taken off.
“There’s so much going on! There’s a chance to talk to writers and illustrators, as well as pick up some pretty rare comic books, with talks going on throughout the day. We will also be having a raffle with over £1,000 worth of prizes. I advise all those who attended last year to be warned that there will not be so much space and to get there early to avoid queues.”
