MELKSHAM Area Board handed out £9,565.40 to local groups at its meeting this month.
The board, which is made up of town and parish councillors from the area, dishes out Government money to community groups. At a meeting at Seend Community Centre on Wednesday 7th September, the board gave money to Poulshot Village Hall, a residents group from Keevil, Melksham Christmas Lights, TransWilts CIC and Melksham Parkrun.
Melksham Christmas Lights Group asked for £2,450 and received the full amount towards rejuvenation of infrastructure for the lower end of Melksham.
Trans Wilts CIC asked for £5,000 and was awarded £3,333 towards improvements to Melksham Station’s northern access.
Melksham Parkrun, led by area board member cllr Jon Hubbard, asked for £1,000 and was given the full amount towards the initial set up costs.
Poulshot Village Hall asked for £2,390 and was awarded £1,800 towards improvements work including UVPC cladding to the village hall.
Pyatts Corner Residents Group asked for £982.40 and was awarded the full amount for the improvement of a footpath beside Keevil Village Playing field.
