June’s exhibition at the Art House Cafe in Melksham presents the work of four local artists whose inspiration is the natural world.
The gallery organisers says, “Lynn Pratchett, a newcomer to the Art House Cafe’s gallery, is a self-taught artist with a passion for creating imaginative and unique art, conveying ideas and information without words. Her work is constantly evolving, exploring new techniques using colour, form and texture.
“Ann Smith and Anne Deven are both members of The Melksham Forest Art Group. Anne Deven has exhibited with us before and her watercolour paintings have been much admired. Ann Smith, new to the Art House Cafe, also uses watercolour to great effect. Both artists are self-taught, occasionally straying into other media but always returning to watercolour for its exciting unpredictable results.
“Finally, we welcome back Pete Edwards, for whom music is an inspiration but who also draws on a reservoir of creative ideas when exploring the countryside, the wonder and patterns of nature – spirals, fractals, textures and hues.
“Although nearly all the work on display this month is inspired by the natural world, the painting styles and effects produced by the four artists are quite different. Come and see for yourself and admire the work of these very talented local artists. If you enjoy the cafe and the gallery, why not help by volunteering to give a few hours now and then. You would be made very welcome.”
