MELKSHAM Without Parish Council has started repairing local play areas after taking over the responsibility from Wiltshire Council.
The council recently repaired, repainted and cleaned the neglected play area in Berryfield.
Parish clerk Teresa Strange said, “The play area surfaces and equipment have been cleaned, safety surfaces replaced or repaired, and equipment repaired and painted.
“This play area is destined to be removed as part of the Melksham Link canal project, but the parish council was very keen to make sure that the children of Berryfield have a viable and pleasant place to play until that project eventually takes place.
“Similar work is booked for Kestrel Court play area in Bowerhill, which the parish council also took responsibility for, with the aim of eventually transferring ownership.
“We are awaiting the transfer of Hornchurch Road play area to the parish council from the developers so refurbishment work can be undertaken there too.”
