THE Royal British Legion in Melksham launches this year’s Poppy Appeal at the end of the month and organisers are hoping to have another record-breaking collection.
Poppies with be available from shops, pubs and clubs in Melksham from Saturday 29th October to Friday 11th November with volunteers collecting in various places around Melksham for the charity.
Organisers are looking for volunteers to help beat last year’s total of £23,904.
Organiser Ken Graham said, “We’d like volunteers to help us collect in the supermarkets in town, the more the merrier! We will be in Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Leekes and Asda this year. People can offer to help for as many hours as they like, and we’re grateful for any contribution.
“We were very pleased with last year’s collection, and with everyone’s generosity in the town. Melksham people are very good at donating to charity. The total has gone up every year since I started in 2008, and we’d like to try and raise even more this time around.”
