Keen gardeners in Melksham are due to open up their gardens this month for the annual open gardens event in aid of The Children’s Society.
Running on Sunday 20th July, the event has become a staple of the town’s summer calendar and a major fundraiser for The Children’s Society, which provides specialist support for young people to make positive changes.
Organiser Lesley Windebank said, “We have a record number of gardens open to the public this year, including several new ones. The gardens will be open from 1pm to 6pm.”
Tickets can be purchased in advance from the Tourist Information Centre in Church Street and cost £5 each with no charge for children. Tickets can also be bought on the day from outside the town hall in the Market Place. “Please remember to bring cash,” said Lesley.
“Our very popular cream teas will be on sale from 2.30pm in Place Road. The cost is still the same as last year, just £4. Again, cash sales only please.”
Last year, the event raised a record total of funds for The Children’s Society and the organisers are hoping to match that again this summer.
Lesley said, “Please do come along on the 20th July for an entertaining afternoon and show support for a very worthwhile charity.”
