RESIDENTS have praised the recent efforts to keep the Avon Place shopping precinct tidy.
In July, Melksham News reported that residents were upset by the amount of rubbish strewn on the ground and overflowing bins in the privately-managed area in the town centre – the concerns echoed those previously reported in 2018 and 2019. However, in recent weeks, shoppers have noted an improvement, with the area, which is maintained by management company Bridger Bell, receiving praise for its “neat and tidy” appearance.
“This is how it should look,” said one resident speaking to Melksham News. “It looks really good!”
“It looks so much better,” said another resident. “It’s not looked like this for years – it’s an area we can be proud of again.”
In response to the feedback, a spokesperson for Bridger Bell said, “It is very pleasing that our efforts have been noticed, and we will continue to try to maintain the centre to at least the same standard going forward.
“It is a lovely scheme and we hope to introduce more improvements over the coming years.”
