Around 150 people, including 80 visitors, turned out to see the Melksham and District Historical Association’s first autumn presentation, given by Rob Cumming on ‘RAF Melksham.’
Rob’s extensive research, using original documents and first-hand accounts, took the Assembly Hall audience through the history of the airfield from pre-World War II to its closure.
Organiser Paul Carter said, “There was even a bit of comedian Jennifer Saunders thrown in for good measure, and an appreciative audience included many people associated with the camp who were happy to share their memories and knowledge.”
The next talk, on Thursday 16th October, will welcome back local historian Lisa Ellis with The Trials of Revd Barnwell.
The full programme is available on the Melksham and District Association website https://www.melkshamhistoricalassociation.org/
