CHURCHFIELDS School in Atworth held its Dickensian Christmas Fayre on Saturday 28th November, raising £2,635.
Scrooge, Bob Cratchitt and Mr Pickwick were all in attendance at the event which was organised by the school PTA to raise money for the school outdoor play areas.
The entrance to the school was transformed into a Victorian market place with brightly painted stalls, an old curiosity shop with the whole school being traditionally decorated by a hardworking team of parents and teachers.
The aroma of fresh bread, homemade pies, roast chestnuts and mulled wine encouraged all the many visitors to make the most of the 30 stalls throughout the school offering the very best of festive goodies, presents and crafts. With Christmas music, entertainment from the school ukulele band and performances from the “Diminished Dickens Theatre Company”, great festive fun was had by all.
Parents and teachers were joined by a number of other village groups, making the fayre a successful community event.
