A local primary school has celebrated the opening of its newly transformed school library, which has been reimagined with a ‘Woodland Wonderland’ theme.
Seend Primary School, which is part of The White Horse Federation, chose the woodland theme to provide a calm and inspiring space where children can explore books, develop their literacy skills and use their imaginations.
The new space gives the impression of an enchanted forest and includes paintings of towering trees and animals hidden throughout the room, as well as cosy reading nooks designed to nurture a lifelong love of reading.
The library transformation was made possible through funding from the school’s dedicated PTA and the local church, alongside money raised by the pupils during a sponsored walk.
The artwork was painted by former teacher Natalie Johnson.
Natalie said, “I was excited by the opportunity to return to Seend to design and paint the new library. Having previously taught here, this project felt especially meaningful to me. The mural celebrates the rural setting of the school while paying homage to the class names and history. I hope the space inspires pupils to see reading as an adventure and to feel that this library belongs to them.”
Assistant headteacher Holly Chivers said, “This library is more than just a place to read. It represents what can be achieved when a community comes together.
“Our children are so proud knowing they helped create this wonderful space, and Natalie’s connection to the school makes this even more meaningful.”
The official opening celebration took place on World Book Day, with families and community members invited to view the new space and share in the achievement.
