1950s’ Recording star Charlie Gracie is returning to Melksham on Saturday 21st November with support from Class of 58 for the latest show from Melksham Rock ‘n Roll Club.
Charlie, who hails from Philadelphia and was born in 1936, took up the guitar at an early age and had his first number one in America with ‘Butterfly’ in 1956. Several hits followed including top 10 hits in the UK with ‘Fabulous’ and ‘Wandering Eyes’ plus appearances at The Palladium and sell out tours during 1956 and 1957.
Charlie has also appeared on Alan Freed’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Shows and The Ed Sullivan Show and toured with Chuck Berry, The Everly Brothers, Bo Diddley and his good friend Eddie Cochran. Some of his biggest fans have been members of The Beatles, Van Morrison, Graham Nash and many more. He’s still a great guitarist and singer.
Class of 58 are from South Wales and are a unique band as they are all one family with mum and mad on double bass and guitar, plus their sons on drums and keyboards. They cover all genres of Rock ‘n’ Roll and are especially good at vocal harmonies. They have toured the UK and Europe with Charlie.
