A MELKSHAM girl is getting ready to have her head shaved for charity as part of a week-long fundraiser at the West End Inn.
12-year-old Reghan Brown will be braving the shave in three weeks’ time when she does away with her waist-long hair to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Reghan says, “I chose to do this because I’ve had quite a few family members who have had cancer, and I want to do something to help.
“I’m not sure why I chose to shave my head; it’s something a bit different. I’m excited but nervous about it – my friends have told me I will look weird!”
Reghan will have her head shaved on Saturday 1st October to top off the week’s charity events at the pub on King Street.
In the week before, starting on Monday 26th September, there will be fundraising events every day for Macmillan, organised by Jayde Park.
There will be ‘crazy pool’ on Monday, a car wash on Tuesday, bingo on Wednesday, a darts competition on Thursday, a coffee morning and fun day on Friday, head shaving and waxing on Saturday. The team will also be holding a car boot sale on the Sunday.
Jayde, who works at the West End says, “It has been stressful organising everything but I’m hoping we can raise a lot of money for charity.
“Reghan has already raised over £130 so we’re off to a good start! Macmillan is a cause close to all of our hearts and I’ve had friends who have had cancer, so we want to do what we can to give something back. Please come along and get involved!”
