Registration is now open for the Bowerhill Bomber, an annual 5k and 10k running event returning in March in support of the Melksham Carnival.
Scheduled for Sunday 2nd March, the routes will cover country lanes, fields, towpaths, and some roads, making this a picturesque countryside run.
Organisers say, “There are stiles, gates, bridges, and hopefully lots of mud!”
Medals will be awarded to all finishers, with prizes for the first, second, and third finishers in the 10k race. Prizes will also be given to the first local Melksham male and female runners.
For the 5k race, prizes will go to the first male and female finishers, the first boy and girl aged 11 to 16, and the first boy and girl aged 10 and under.
Taking place at Bowerhill Sports Field, the event will have toilets, refreshments available for purchase, and water stations.
Organisers say, “The 10k race is open to runners aged 16 years and over on the day of the race. The 5k race is open to all, but under 10s must be accompanied by an adult. No dogs are allowed; this is for everyone’s safety. We regret that the course is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
“Headphones, including bone-conduction headphones, are not permitted. Please adhere to these rules, as failure to comply will result in disqualification. This is for everyone’s safety. Places are limited, so please book early. We look forward to seeing you.”
Race entries close on Sunday 23rd February or earlier if the race limit is reached. No entries will be accepted on the day.
The 10k race starts at 10.30am, and the 5k race begins at 10.45am, with a short safety briefing held before each race.
