Melksham’s new circular wooden planters have been causing a stir – but not as the town council intended.
While the planters, installed around the town centre, are still empty and waiting to be filled with native trees, a group of residents have come up with an imaginative way to enjoy them.
A photo shared on social media shows a group ‘relaxing’ inside the planters, with the caption ‘Melksham is a spa town after all,’ prompting amusement across the town.
Nicholas Wood, who helped create the photo, said, “When I saw the new planters, I couldn’t help thinking they looked like jacuzzis. I started giggling when I remembered Melksham used to be a spa town. The cans of Stella were a really nice touch.”
The antics have gone down well with locals, with one saying, “Love this! It was just waiting to happen!” and another adding, “Absolutely brilliant. Great laughs all round!”
