It’s been an exciting year at River Mead Primary School as the Early Years Unit, has been developed, now offering four indoor learning spaces and a large and well-resourced garden for children from the age of 2 until the end of their Reception year.
“Visitors to the unit always comment on how calm and engaged the children are in their play and are often surprised at how large the unit is, given how little they can see from the road; it’s even been described as a tardis! The children enjoy indoor and outdoor opportunities and this year even grew giant marrows!
“All of the children have participated in their school learning but also enjoyed and enhanced and enriching curriculum off-site on trips and with visitors coming in to support their learning including Warburton’s bread-making and Paralympian Stephanie Millward!
“This year, the school has also achieved the Silver Healthy Schools Award with feedback from the assessors stating, “I haven’t seen such comprehensive provision all in one place”, and that “It is clear that the staff are passionate in supporting the children and the school has a lovely feel.
