LOCAL people are being asked to don their Santa hats and running shoes on Sunday 6th December, to join in Dorothy House’s annual Santa Dash fun run in Winsley.
The 6km sponsored fun run sees fundraisers run a course round the village in Father Christmas costumes. Entrants are asked to collect sponsorship before running, jogging or walk ing the 6km (about 4 miles) hilly route through the countryside surrounding Dorothy House, to raise money for the hospice.
The registration fee for is £17 per person (£12 before Friday 13th November), and runners are expected to raise or donate at least £30 to Dorothy House. All entrants will receive a Santa suit to wear on the day and post-dash refreshments.
The Santa Dash is open to those 12 years old and over, but any runner under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult entrant. This year will also see the addition of the Festive Family Frolic, in which families and their youngsters can run, walk, hop, skip or jump 1km on a buggy-friendly path round the Dorothy House grounds.
The Festive Family Frolic costs £5 for each over 5 year-old taking part.
