The Sarum Avenue Christmas lights are back this year with a ‘bigger and better’ display to raise funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Last year, the residents raised over £6,000 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, with the display attracting visitors from across the county.
This year, the lights will be switched on Saturday 30th November, from 5pm to 9pm. The display will then be illuminated every evening in the run-up to Christmas for residents to drive through and enjoy the festive scenes.
“We want to raise more money for the charity than last year’s total,” says Stacey Jones, one of the residents of Sarum Avenue.
Returning this year to bring Christmas cheer will be Father Christmas and his elves, who will be out on the street greeting children and handing out sweets each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, starting from Friday 6th December.
“This is a drive-through lights display, so if anyone wants to see Father Christmas and the elves, please come on foot, as there is no parking in the area,” says Stacey.
New to the display this year is a raffle. Tickets will be on sale in the street from Friday 6th December, with the draw to be announced over the coming weeks.
“We want to thank all the local businesses that have donated some amazing raffle prizes. We also want to thank everyone who has helped us set up the display and the Melksham community for all their support!”
There are also more surprises to be unveiled by the residents over the coming weeks. For more information and to stay up to date with the Sarum Avenue Christmas Lights Display, visit their Facebook page.
