Pupils from Bowerhill Primary School visited the Bristol Hippodrome to watch Matilda the Musical as part of the school’s personal development programme.
A total of 170 pupils from Years 4, 5 and 6 attended the theatre trip as part of the school’s ‘7 in 7 for Personal Development’ initiative, which aims to give every child the opportunity to experience live theatre three times before leaving primary school.
Headteacher Chris Light said, “Visiting the theatre is a big part of our ‘7 in 7 for Personal Development’ and we want all of our children to experience the magic of the theatre three times before they leave primary school.
“We also want to remove all financial barriers to this for our families so our PTA, the Bowerhill Buddies, pay for the tickets and transport every year for our children in Year 4, 5 and 6.

“This is the third year we have run the trip, meaning our children in Year 6 have done exactly that without it costing our parents a penny – something we are incredibly proud of.”
“It was wonderful to see all of the children transfixed by the show, particularly from the young actress playing Matilda who was only nine years old,” he said.
“They came away so inspired having seen someone their own age performing on such a big stage and doing so well.”
