Award-winning documentary photographer, Sophie Gerrard, will present a series of photographs of female farmers in Scotland with ‘Drawn to the Land’ on display in the Fox Talbot Museum at Lacock Abbey over the next six months.
‘Drawn to the Land’ is an ongoing and exploratory project which takes an intimate look at the contemporary Scottish landscape through the eyes of the women who are working, forming and shaping it.
It focusses on Sybil, Mary, Sarah, Minty, Patricia and Lorraine, six hill farmers who demonstrate a great empathy with the land and livestock that they look after and talk of being unable to imagine themselves doing anything else.
The ‘Drawn to the Land’ exhibition takes place at the Fox Talbot Museum in Lacock from 17th September to 12th March 2017 and is free with normal admission.
The Fox Talbot Museum at Lacock Abbey is open to visitors throughout the year. National Trust members and under 5s go free. For more information, visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/lacock
