Read Easy Melksham, which helps people in the town and surrounding area grow confidence with reading skills, has been running for two years.
The group has recently held its second AGM where the chairman, David Williams, welcomed Terri Welch, the Mayor, Jacqui Mitton, their regional advisor and several of their generous sponsors and venue holders to Queensway Chapel on Friday the 7th April.
The group reports, “David gave a very positive report on the last 12 months’ activities stressing particularly the growth of our “business”. We now have nine reading venues in Melksham, 14 coaches, including three awaiting training and seven readers.
“He announced that two readers have successfully completed the course and have been presented with their certificates. David thanked the many Melksham businesses, council officials and town event organizers who have supported us and the local referral agencies with whom we are now partnered.
“Read Easy Melksham is looking forward to the next year and teaching even more adults from Melksham and the surrounding area to read. If you are interested in playing a part in this worthwhile venture please contact David on 07468 852655 or email melksham@readeasy.org.uk
“We are looking for more volunteers to train as reading coaches, more referrals (either personal or professional) of adults who struggle to read and more lovely people to join our friendly and dynamic committee.”
