A plan to address safety concerns for pedestrians and cyclists along Semington Road is set to be drawn up by an active travel charity.
Representatives from Walk Wheel Cycle Trust visited Semington Road recently with members of Melksham Without Parish Council to see first-hand the issues residents have raised about the impact of new housing developments.
With more than 100 homes planned or under construction on land west of Semington Road, residents have expressed concerns about increasing traffic congestion, speeding and whether the road is suitable for walking and cycling.
At a recent Melksham Without Parish Council full council meeting, councillors described the site visit as ‘thorough’ and said they expected the report to be returned within six weeks.
The visit forms part of a holistic review of Semington Road commissioned by the parish council to help identify future highway, pedestrian and cycling improvements in the area.
Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, formerly known as Sustrans, works to make it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle in their communities.
