THE Shaw and Whitley WI met last month for an update on past, current and future activities.
WI member Jacqueline Giddings said, “We had a festive feel to our December meeting; Ray Dance and Judith Sharpe entertained us with songs from the shows and a few carols. They were superb. Some of our members had recently seen them in Fiddler on the Roof in Swindon. It was followed by a finger buffet.
“We also heard about carol services members went to at Salisbury, organised by County W.I., and one at Neston organised by Neston W.I.
“We were informed about events organised by Wiltshire W.I. leisure committee, a talk about the science of cream teas, a morning for absolute beginners learning about machine patchwork, and much more on offer during the year.
“We were asked to vote on a resolution to go forward to choose a campaign to discuss at the A.G.M. in June. A difficult decision, 1. Positive body image in a digital age, 2. Stop female genital mutilation, 3. Raising awareness of modern slavery in the U.K. 4. Metal health matters, 5. Healthier Mouth, Healthier Body, We will find out later which campaign the federation takes up.
“If you would like to find out more about the W.I., see the website or come along to one of our meetings at the Beeches Village Hall, second Monday in the month at 7.30pm where you will find a warm welcome.”
