SOMERSET Arms’ landlord, John Adams, can always be trusted to serve up quality food and drinks at the pub in Semington; but he certainly can’t be trusted to cut your barnet – despite what Google says!
The village landlord was recently left baffled when he discovered that the online search engine, Google, had the pub listed as ‘a hair salon in Melksham’. There was further confusion when the pub’s Google listing announced that it was ‘permanently closed’.
“We are definitely still open,” said John, “permanently open! And we are definitely still a pub serving food and drinks!
“I was lost for words when I saw the pub’s listing on Google. I don’t know why this has happened. It could be a glitch; maybe we’ve been hacked; or maybe someone is playing a practical joke on us?”
Despite the inconvenience, John has seen the funny side to the situation – and is even considering expanding the services on offer at the Somerset Arms.
“Cutting hair is not something I have ever done before – it is something I’ve always wanted to do, but I’ve never found anyone willing to let me! So if there is anyone brave enough to ask, the offer of a haircut is there.
“But seriously, I’d recommend the food and drink here, maybe not the haircuts!”
