Des O’Connor, one of the UK’s most popular and best loved entertainers, is set to appear at Melksham’s Assembly Hall on 19th June.
Awarded the CBE for his services to entertainment and broadcasting, Des is one of only a handful of British entertainers to be acclaimed internationally on stage and on television.
On stage he has starred at the MGM Grand Las Vegas, the Sydney Opera House, The O’Keefe Centre, Toronto and has made over 1,000 solo appearances at the London Palladium; whilst his American TV series went out to over 40 countries and was seen by 200 million people world-wide.
Recent TV includes Des O’Connor Tonight specials; an ITV celebration special to mark Des’ 40th year on prime time television; Des O’Connor Comedy Tonight and a series of prime-time Des O’Connor With… one-to-one specials. His award-winning ITV1 daily celebrity talk show Today with Des & Mel, in which he appeared with co-host Melanie Sykes, proved such a hit with viewers that the show more than doubled its audience.
“It’s a massive thrill and a privilege to be able to welcome Des O’Connor to Melksham for a wonderful evening of comedy, laughter and music” said Assembly Hall Operations Manager Lorna Howard.
“Des is one of a very few genuine showbusiness greats and this is a rare opportunity to see a true entertainment legend live on stage, up close and personal, in Melksham’s very own Assembly Hall. “
Tickets for An Evening with Des O’Connor are priced at £24 each (£22 concessions for pensioners) and are available from Melksham Assembly Hall (01225 704187) or the Tourist Information Centre (01225 707424).
Tickets are also available to see two of the UK’s biggest comedy stars live in Melksham – TV funnymen Seann Walsh and Andy Parsons who will both be performing at the Assembly Hall in April and May this year as part of nationwide tours.
Tickets for both events are expected to sell quickly so comedy fans are urged to book their seats now or risk being disappointed.
Assembly Hall manager Lorna Howard said, “It’s great to be able to play host to Seann and Andy at Melksham.
“This is further proof that we have the venue and audience to attract high profile entertainers to perform live at Melksham.”
Seann Walsh, star of Channel 4’s ‘Virtually Famous’ and ‘Stand Up for the Week’ and BBC1’s ‘Live At The Apollo’, will appear on Thursday 9th April as he brings his brand new show ‘Seann 28’ to Melksham.
Seann will be supported on the evening by up and coming comedian Mark Simmons.
Seann is a charming and charismatic natural born observational storyteller, and one of the most frighteningly precocious talents to emerge from the UK comedy circuit in years.
Having reached the age of 28 Seann is on tour with his aptly named new show ’28’ where he is now living with his girlfriend, and she is trying to sort him out!
Seann’s other recent TV appearances include: ‘Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow’ (BBC 1); ‘Argumental’ (Dave); ‘Seann Walsh’s Late Night Comedy Spectacular’ (BBC3); Channel 4’s ‘Comedy Gala Live At The 02’ 2012 and 2013; ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ (BBC2), ‘Celebrity Juice’ (ITV2), ‘Mock The Week’ (BBC2), ‘8 Out Of 10 Cats’ (Channel 4) and ‘Alan Carr: Chatty Man’ (Channel 4).
Weeks after Seann’s appearance fellow comedy star Andy Parsons will be returning to the Assembly Hall on Friday 15th May for his show ‘Live And Unleashed – But Naturally Cautious.’
Andy, with four sell-out national tours, three DVD releases and a special for Comedy Central already under his belt, is back on the road in 2015 and coming to Melksham!
He has enjoyed huge success as a writer and performer on television, radio and the live comedy stage. As well as a series regular on the award-winning Mock The Week (BBC 2) and numerous spots on Live At The Apollo (BBC 1), Andy has also appeared on QI (BBC2), The Politics Show (BBC1), Newsnight (BBC2), World’s Most Dangerous Roads (BBC2), Saturday Live (ITV) and Channel 4’s Comedy Gala At The O2, Andy was also lead writer on ITV’s hugely influential Spitting Image.
