The Melksham committee of The Children’s Society is again organising an Open Gardens afternoon in Melksham on Sunday 21st July, and is looking for more gardens to join in.
They say, “This will be the 20th time this event has taken place and it always gives great pleasure to visitors coming from Melksham and further afield to see the gardens. At the same time, we raise money for the Children’s Society who sponsor projects such as providing safe houses and access to help for the 100,000 or more children who run away from home each year and often end up sleeping rough on the streets.
“The Open Gardens scheme is very popular in many towns and villages throughout the UK, bringing great pleasure to garden lovers and raising money for charity.
“The gardeners of Melksham have always been very supportive of this event and help to make it a really worthwhile occasion. We usually have well over a dozen gardens of all types and size, so why not let others admire and appreciate the hard work you put into your garden?”
All arrangements will be made by the local committee of the Children’s Society including publicity, insurance, teas and ticket sales. If you would like more information before making a decision, please contact Lesley Windebank on 01225 790639 or email lesleywindebank@blue yonder.co.uk.
