LAST summer Melksham was filmed by the BBC as part of a new series about the quintessentially British gardening competition ‘Britain in Bloom’ and will be shown on Wednesday 2nd May at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
Melksham was one of 15 Britain in Bloom groups chosen to be represented by the BBC show ‘Blooming Marvellous,’ which features a film crew following the groups as they prepare for the biggest day in community gardening. Series-makers hope to capture the excitement as the groups vie to be recognised as one of the cleanest, greenest and most beautiful places in the country.
The 15-episode long series will begin on Monday 23rd April on BBC Two at 6.30pm and will show an episode every weekday for three weeks. The Melksham episode will feature on Wednesday 2nd May at 6.30pm.
Chair of South West in Bloom Melksham, Kathy Iles said, “We are very excited that it has finally been announced. We have waited a long time. We can’t wait to watch the whole series as Melksham’s episode is near the end. It was exciting and emotional times filming it, but hope that everyone tunes in on the day to watch.
“We are currently in talks with Melksham Town Council about having a premiere event showing the programme. So keep your eyes peeled for the details in due course.”
